Heart Art
There are many ways to explore and express how racism
affects our lives. At its root, the phenomenon of racism is
irrational. It is an emotional response to perceived difference.
On the journey from unconsciousness acceptance of the racism
embedded in our culture, to awareness, resistance, and active
anti-racist ways of living, we experience a range of emotional
change. Feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, shame, fear and
resentment are all possible, as are feelings of pride, peacefulness,
empowerment and delight. The process of becoming anti-racist is
generative, as we shape new ways of seeing and being. The work is,
at its essence, heart work.
We each come to this journey in our own way. Sharing with others
can move us farther down our road and, perhaps, illuminate the path
for others. We invite you to share your creative vision and voice
here.
